Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif said that the allegations of disappearances and murders during the tenure of this government are completely fictitious and untrue. It has no basis. In this Bangladesh, the politics of disappearances and murders and the politics of human rights violations started at the hands of BNP.

Hanif said these things in response to questions from journalists before attending a discussion meeting organized at Kushtia District Art Academy on the occasion of Kushtia Independence Day celebration on December 11.

At that time, Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif said, ‘Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, seized state power and started the politics of disappearance. He killed about 1,200 members of the military, including several leaders of the Awami League, without trial.

Joint General Secretary of Awami League said, ‘The way Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was killed with his family on August 15 was the cruelest, worst human rights violation in the world. BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was directly involved in that incident. A grenade attack was carried out on 21 August 2004 using state machinery when BNP was in power. BNP did all the murders, disappearances and murder politics in this Bangladesh.

Regarding alliance and independent candidates, Hanif also said, ‘Awami League had a meeting with the partner party of the 14-party alliance, in that meeting, detailed discussions were held with them. In that meeting, none of the leaders of the alliance partners expressed dissatisfaction. Awami League hopes that the seat sharing issue with the 14-party alliance will be resolved very soon. But the 14-party coalition will vote with the boat symbol as many seats as they get. Apart from the distribution of seats, if the leaders of the 14-party alliance want to vote with their party symbols, they will also get the opportunity.
