Several houses were vandalized, cocktail explosions and looting occurred in the post-election violence in Munshiganj headquarters. Three people including two women were injured. During this time, gold, cash and cattle and goats were looted. Allegations have been raised that the supporters of independent candidate Haji Faisal Biplab, who won the same seat, have carried out this attack due to the support of the defeated boat candidate of Munshiganj-3 constituency in the last parliamentary elections.

The attack took place at Sholarchar and Bakultala villages of Aadhaar Union in Char area of ​​Sadar Upazila around 6:30 am on Sunday. In this incident, the situation is prevailing in two villages. Additional police have been deployed.

The injured are – local Renu Begum (50), Mahfuz (50) and Shahnaz (50). They were treated at the hospital.

The victims and locals said that in the last 12th National Assembly elections, the people of Solarchar and Bakulkala areas were in dispute with the supporters of the defeated boat candidate Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das and the supporters of the winning independent candidate. Around 6:30 am on Sunday morning, a sudden attack was carried out in Sholarchar and Bakultala villages under the leadership of Ahadul, son of Borhan Master of North Sholarchar village, a supporter of Faisal revolution who won the election dispute at the center. At this time, hundreds of cocktails were exploded. Apart from this, extensive vandalism and looting was carried out with indigenous weapons. The attackers destroyed about half a hundred homesteads, seven shops and shop goods, 15 cows and 8 goats in Bakultala village. Apart from this, gold and cash were looted.

Zakia Begum, wife of Mahabub Bhuiya, who was affected by the attack, said that her house was ransacked and 5 cows, 8 goats and 10 loads of gold were looted. The attack was carried out by disconnecting the electricity as there was a CCTV camera in their house. Apart from this, the attackers took away two CCTV cameras. Later, the police arrived and brought the situation under control.

Panna Begum, the daughter of Amin Uddin Sarkar, the victim of Bakultala village, said, ‘On Sunday morning, the supporters of Kanchi Prateek led by Ahadul attacked our house and looted Tk 5 lakh in cash and 5 bags of gold. At this time they ransacked our house extensively.’

Confirming the truth of the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police Thandar Khairul Hasan said, ‘On receiving the news of the conflict in the area in the morning, I immediately reached the area with the force. We have seen pictures of 7 houses vandalized. 5 teams have been deployed in the area.

The Additional Superintendent of Police also said that efforts are underway to arrest those involved in the incident. Four cows have already been rescued. There has been a long-standing conflict between the two groups in the area.
