The United Kingdom has designated the religious organization Hizb ut Tahrir as a terrorist group. It has also been identified as an anti-Semitic organization by the country’s Ministry of Interior, Reuters reported.
According to the ministry, if the proposal to ban Hizb ut Tahrir is passed in the parliament, it will come into effect from January 19. As a result, association with Hizb ut Tahrir will be considered a criminal offense in the country. And this crime can be punished for a maximum of 14 years.
It should be noted that on October 7, Hizb-Tahrir, a religious party in the UK, praised and supported the attack by Hamas in Israel.
Referring to the issue, British Home Secretary James Cleverley said, the organization also has a long history of praising and celebrating attacks against Jews.
Reuters wrote that an email to a UK-based representative of Hizb ut Tahrir about this decision of the UK did not get an immediate response.
Earlier in 2009 Bangladesh also banned this religious organization considering the threat to public security.
At that time, it was said from the Ministry of Home Affairs that the decision was taken after observing the activities of the organization for a long time. The organization is banned in several countries, including Turkey, due to its involvement in terrorist activities.
