The High Court did not grant bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the case of attack on the Chief Justice’s residence. On this day, the court rejected the ruling issued by the High Court as to why Mirza Fakhrul Islam will not be granted bail. The double bench of Justice Mohammad Salim and Justice Shahed Nooruddin gave this order on Wednesday.
Family members including Mirza Fakhrul’s wife Rahat Ara Begum were present in the court during the bail hearing. Meanwhile, Fakhrul’s full bail will be heard in 9 more cases of sabotage today in Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. A partial bail hearing was held yesterday. Before that, he was arrested in 9 cases. Fakhrul was present in the court.
The police registered 3 cases in Ramna police station and 7 cases in Paltan police station on various charges of vandalism, including the attack and vandalism of the Chief Justice’s residence during the BNP convention on October 28. The next morning on October 29, Mirza Fakhrul was picked up by the DB police from his home in Gulshan. Later, he was arrested in a case of Ramna police station. Fakhrul has been in jail since then.
