The Department of Health has directed the Divisional Health Directors and Civil Surgeons to send information on unregistered hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers and blood banks. A letter from the Directorate informed that they should send this information within the next 7 working days.

It said, in view of the above, it is requested to send the list of unregistered (unlicensed) private hospitals/clinics, diagnostic centers and blood banks within 7 working days without fail.

Baby Ayan died at the United Medical College Hospital in Satarkul Badda recently while undergoing circumcision. The child’s family complained that after Ayan was circumcised under full anesthesia on December 31, Ayan was sent to United Hospital in Gulshan as he did not regain consciousness after a few hours of the operation. After being kept on life support in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for 7 days, the doctors declared Ayan dead on January 7.

Later it came to know that Badda United Medical College Hospital was not approved at all. After that, the issue of unauthorized hospital-clinics came into discussion.
