4 members of the same family died after being electrocuted by an auto-rickshaw at their residence in Nandale, Mymensingh. The autorickshaw was charging at the time of the accident. This incident took place in Birghoshpala village of Chandipasha union of the upazila around 3:30 pm on Saturday.
The deceased are Jamal Uddin (32), his mother Anwara Begum (65), infant daughter Anika Akhter (4) and Mosha Faiza (6).
Chandipasha Union Parishad Chairman Shahab Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
Shahab Uddin said that the deceased Jamal Uddin was a child of a helpless poor family. He used to earn his living by driving autorickshaws. He used to charge the autorickshaw at his residence. On Saturday around 3 pm, Jamal Uddin went to take the autorickshaw out of the house. Jamal Uddin got electrocuted due to negligence of the autorickshaw.
Shahab Uddin also said that when Jamal Uddin screamed, his daughters Anika and Faiza ran to their father and they were also electrocuted. At that time, Jamal Uddin’s mother Anwara Begum ran and caught her son and granddaughter and she also died due to electrocution.
The news of this tragic death has cast a shadow of mourning in the area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandale Model Police Station Abdul Majeed said, ‘We went to the spot and recovered the bodies after hearing the news of the death of 4 members of a family due to electrocution. This is very tragic. Legal action is being taken in this incident.’
