Hazam cut off the child’s penis during the circumcision

Hazam has been accused of cutting off the penis of a child during circumcision at home in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali. Locals arrested him and handed him over to the police. The incident took place in Borpit village of Nadna Union on Thursday afternoon.

Accused Mamun Mia Noakhali Sadar Upazila, Dadpur Union, West Barahipur Village Md. Son of Hanif. The injured child was given first aid and shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to police and locals, Mamun Mia went to circumcise a 7-year-old child in a village in the afternoon. At that time, while cutting the skin with a razor, he cut the front part of the child’s genitals and severed it. When the child bled profusely, he was taken to Sadar Hospital.

Noakhali General Hospital emergency department doctor Tanveer Haider Imon said that the child’s front part of the penis was cut off by Hazam. After being brought to the hospital, the child was given first aid and shifted to Dham for advanced treatment.

In this regard, the district civil surgeon Dr. Masum Iftekhar said that immediately after learning about the incident, he and experienced doctors including the supervisor of Noakhali General Hospital inquired about the child’s treatment. However, the child was sent to Dham as there was no good system to restore the amputated part of the child in Noakhali.

Bakhtiyar Uddin, OC of Sonaimuri police station, said that the accused Hazam Mamun Mia was arrested and handed over to the police. Legal action will be taken in this case.

Earlier, on February 21, the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex medical assistant of a 7-year-old child cut off the extra part during circumcision. The next day Chittagong Divisional Director of Health Department. Mohiuddin went to see the child at Upazila Health Complex. On the same day, Saif Uddin, Head of Surgery Department (Senior Consultant) of Noakhali General Hospital went to see the child at the Upazila Health Complex on the instructions of the Director General of the Department of Health. Then as per his advice the child was sent to Noakhali General Hospital. The child is under treatment in the surgery ward of this hospital.

The accused medical assistant Saurabh Bhowmik was banned from the Upazila Health Complex and the in-charge Deputy Assistant Community Medical Officer Vijay Kumar was transferred to St. Martin Island.

In addition, the resident medical officer (RMO) of the upazila health complex in the investigation of the incident. A two-member inquiry committee headed by Zobair was formed.
