A hand grenade has been detonated on the railway platform in Narayanganj for the purpose of sabotage. This incident took place at Narayanganj railway station on Sunday around 1.30 pm. Railway police and Ansar members who were present at that time chased and arrested three youths. Panic spread among the passengers of the train due to the explosion.
Those arrested are Habibur Rahman (21) of Railgate No. 5 area of the city, Md. of the same area. Arif (23) and Zainal Abedin (22) of Kafrul Thana area of the capital.
Deputy Inspector (SI) of Narayanganj Railway Police Outpost Moklechur Rahman said that the train that left Narayanganj for Dhaka at 1:35 PM was standing on the platform. At that time a loud explosion occurred. At this time panic spread among the passengers.
Moklechur Rahman said that the railway police and Ansar members who were in charge of platform security chased and arrested the three youths when they escaped after causing the explosion. Evidence of hand grenade explosion was recovered from the scene. Railway Police, Thana Police and Police are deployed at the spot.
Moklechur Rahman also said that the three detained youths are being interrogated. He said, ‘The purpose of this incident is being investigated. Whether they have any political identity is also being investigated.
