Half polling stations in Dhaka are at risk: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman said half of Dhaka’s 2,146 polling stations are dangerous and critical.

The commissioner told the reporters this Monday around 12 noon after the book festival at Rajarbagh Police Lines School and College.

Habibur Rahman said, ‘Some groups are doing inaction to prevent the election. Out of 2146 centers in DMP, half are vulnerable and critical. And 478 low risk centers.

The commissioner also said that there is no militant activity at the moment based on the election. Said, “But there are all kinds of preparations.”

Voting for the 12th National Parliament election will be held on January 7. Candidates are campaigning. 1 thousand 151 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to keep the law and order situation normal during the elections. Police and Ansar members are also working.

The BGB will work as a mobile and striking force to maintain peace and order in the electoral areas of the country including Dhaka till January 10 to assist the local civil administration.

Meanwhile, members of the armed forces will be on the polling ground from January 3 to January 10.
