Shankar Pal, the Japa candidate of Habiganj-2 seat, withdrew from the election blaming the central leaders of the Jatiya Party. He withdrew from the election with a video message on social media Facebook. At that time, he accused the central leaders of not getting any kind of cooperation in the elections and harassing the leaders and workers.

Shankar Pal said in a video message, ‘There are many reasons for me to withdraw from the election. Nothing has been done as per the assurance given to us in many places by the party. Like I wasn’t ready for the election. I have supported another person in my place, but it appears that I received the party nomination the day before when filing nominations for the election. But I filed nomination to help Govt. I went to Dhaka and found out that there was an agreement with the government on only 26 seats, but we know nothing.’

Japa candidate complained, ‘We have a clear party reference to use pictures of candidates and party leaders. But many have written supporting Awami League on Jatiya Party nominated candidate posters. Apart from this, many have used the photo of other party leaders in addition to the party leader’s photo. It is anti-election.’

Shankar Pal said, ‘Many Awami Leagues are working in the field for Langan in our area, which is causing a lot of damage to our Langan.’

Earlier, independent candidate of Habiganj-1 seat, Shahed Gazi withdrew from the election.
