The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam celebrated the Great Victory Day with due dignity. For this purpose, a colorful program was organized throughout the day on Saturday. In the morning, the event started with the arrival of the invited guests. Bangladesh High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Sumna hoisted the national flag to the beat of the national anthem in the presence of all the officers and employees of the Bangladesh High Commission and members of the Bangladesh community, members of the diplomatic corps, some prominent citizens of India and Brunei.
After that, recitation of Holy Quran, one minute silence in honor of the martyrs of liberation war and special prayers were organized. Bangladesh High Commissioner paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the great architect of independence, the greatest father of the Bengali nation for a thousand years.
On this auspicious occasion of the Great Victory Day, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh and other officials of the High Commission read out the message sent by the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Then a video on the Great War of Liberation was shown. Miz Josephine, a member of La Vida, entertained everyone by singing in Chinese. Mr. Zakir Hossain, a member of the Bangladesh community, sang the patriotic song ‘Suryodaye Tumi, Suryaasteo Tumi’.
In his speech, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh first remembered with deep respect the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the chief architect of the great freedom of Bengal for a thousand years. He further expressed his deep gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the Father of the Nation, under whose strong and intelligent leadership Bangladesh is moving ahead at breakneck speed and has earned the status of a ‘miracle and role model of development’ on the world map.
On the auspicious occasion of the Great Victory Day, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh urged everyone to take the country forward by being inspired by Bangabandhu’s ideals, patriotism and the spirit of liberation war and dedicate themselves to building the ‘Golden Bangla’ of Bangabandhu’s dream.
