State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said, ‘Grameenphone will be a strong partner in developing the country’s new generation as problem solvers through innovative initiatives. Grameenphone will play an important role in building Smart Bangladesh based on the 4 pillars announced by the Prime Minister: Smart Citizen, Smart Citizen, Smart Government and Smart Society.
He said these things in the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration ceremony of Grameenphone, the country’s first cross-platform app marketplace ‘AppCity’, which provides telecommunication services, at La Meridien Hotel in the capital on Tuesday.
The state minister said, ‘We have to ensure a smart future for a smart nation in line with our national goals. In the next 17 years, the young entrepreneurs of the country will play an active role in building a smart Bangladesh through innovation. The app will make a special contribution in building a smart nation by involving the youth.’
Palak also said, ‘Grameenphone has created a strong network in the country. Currently there are more than 13 crore internet users in the country. High speed reliable broadband internet connection will be delivered at low cost no matter the city, village, hill, island or any remote area.
The State Minister also said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working towards bringing all services to citizens’ fingertips and aiming for a corruption-free, paperless, interconnected and interoperable smart government.’
Grameenphone Limited Chairman and Telenor Asia Head Petter-Bore Farberg and Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman among others spoke on the occasion.
