Abdel-Aziz Mohammed, a 55-year-old displaced from Gaza City, told Reuters, ‘Help? what is that We’ve heard about it, but haven’t seen it yet.’ He said in a tearful voice, “Just two months ago I had a big house, two fridges full of food. And now I have to beg for a little bread.
Abdel-Aziz Mohammad said that he and his family have taken refuge in a friend’s house in southern Gaza. The house houses at least 30 other people who are all displaced. He said, ‘This is a war of hunger. They (Israeli soldiers) destroyed our houses, businesses and everything. We were forced to flee south. Now either we will die from the bomb, or we will die of hunger.’
A journalist named Yusuf Fares in Jabalia, northern Palestine, wrote on his Facebook account, ‘It is very difficult to get flour to make bread now. Prices are now 50 to 100 times higher than before the war. This morning I went out looking for a loaf of bread but I couldn’t find it. I also saw someone who slaughtered a donkey to feed his family members.’
