The daily death toll in Gaza exceeds that of any major conflict of the 21st century, British charity Oxfam has warned. The agency said on Thursday that Israeli attacks are killing an average of 250 Palestinians per day, several times more than in any recent conflict.
Israel’s invasion of Gaza has entered its fourth month. As time goes on, the situation is getting worse. The number of casualties and displacement is increasing due to indiscriminate attacks. According to the United Nations, 85% of the total population of Gaza has been displaced from October 7 to December 2023.
British charity Oxfam published a report on the ongoing situation in Gaza on Thursday. According to their statistics, Israeli attacks are killing an average of 250 Palestinians every day, which is several times more than in any recent conflict.
In the report, the information of war-torn countries like Ukraine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq has emerged. The average daily death toll in Syria is 96.5, while in Iraq and Sudan this number is 51. And Russia’s special military operation has killed 44 people every day in Ukraine.
Oxfam says that much-needed aid is not reaching Gaza due to continued attacks and blockades by Israel. Only 10 percent of the weekly relief needs go to Gaza. In such circumstances, Palestinian survivors of bombings are at risk of death from starvation, disease and extreme cold.
Refugee camps and hospitals are not spared from Israel’s attacks. Rather, health centers have become one of the targets of attacks. Only 1 in 5 of Gaza’s emergency medical services remain, said Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry claimed that Israel carried out at least 10 massacres on Thursday. In this, the number of casualties is more than 300. In addition, at least 8 people were killed in an Israeli bomb attack near Al-Aqsa Hospital. 4 doctors of the Red Crescent Society were killed in the Israeli attack.
