Gas has been found in well number 10 of Sylhet gas field. Minister of State for Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told this information to reporters at the secretariat on Sunday.
The state minister said that the presence of gas was found after completing the excavation at a depth of 2,576 meters in Sylhet-10 well. The bottom layer tested at 2540–2550 meters yielded 25 million cubic feet of gas flow. Apart from this, the flowing pressure is 3 thousand 250 psi.
Nasrul Hamid said that the amount of gas reserves is 43-100 billion cubic feet. Another good gas layer is found at 2460-2475 m. Testing here is expected to yield 25-30 million cubic feet of gas.
The state minister said that the presence of gas is found at 2290-2310 meters. Apart from this, another zone is found at a depth of 1397-1445 meters, where oil was tested last Friday. Initially its API gravity is 29.7 degrees.
Apart from this, the flow of 35 barrels of oil per hour is available at self pressure. After the test is completed, the oil reserves will be known. Simultaneous production at depths of 2540 and 2460 meters will last about 8-10 years. Its weighted average value is around 8500 crores. If it is produced at the rate of 20 million cubic feet, then it will last for more than 15 years, said the state minister.
