State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that by March-April next year, fuel prices will be adjusted every month.
He said this in response to questions from journalists at the end of a program at Shere Bangla Agricultural University in the capital on Thursday.
The state minister for energy said, ‘The government is working on it according to the conditions of the International Monetary Fund. First petrol and octane, later the price of other fuels will be adjusted. The Ministry is preparing a system for this. It will be finished soon.’
Nasrul Hamid said, ‘As a result of coordination, the price will decrease in some months and sometimes it will increase. At present, BERC fixes the fuel prices. But the global market took several months to determine the price. It has been introduced long ago in the developed world. In many countries, the price of fuel rises every day.
The state minister said that in the first phase, this system will be introduced in a piloting manner in some parts of the country. It will be followed in phases across the country.
