In the case of Jagannath University (JB) student Fairuz Avantika’s suicide, the allegations leveled against the accused teacher and classmate have been found to be fragmented. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Ops) Dr. b. Mahid Uddin

In response to a question from journalists b. Mahid Uddin said, ‘There may be truth in the fragmented parts. Not all that is published is correct. But it seems to us that there is prima facie truth.’

The Additional Commissioner said that Avantika was mentally disturbed due to various incidents. Those who are found to be involved in the investigation will also be brought under the law.

Mahid Uddin also said that Deen Islam and Raihan Siddiqui Amman have been handed over to Kotyali police station in Comilla after their arrest.

Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor Dr. Sadeka Halim said that the investigation committee formed in the case of Avantika’s death will report at the earliest. Measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Avantika committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Comilla’s Bagichagao last Friday night. Earlier in his Facebook status, he blamed the university’s former assistant proctor Deen Islam and his classmate Amman for his death. Ever since Avantika’s death, Jagannath University has been in uproar demanding justice for those responsible.

Immediately after the incident, the accused Deen Islam and student Amman Siddiqui were temporarily suspended by the university administration. Then on Saturday, Avantika’s mother filed a case against the accused at Comilla Kotyali Model Police Station. Then the police arrested Deen Islam and Amman on Saturday.
