Bangladesh Bank has dissolved the board of directors of the National Bank due to failure to fulfill its duties and formed a new board. This decision has been taken due to various complaints against the board of directors of the bank including failure to provide loans and save deposits.
Central Bank Spokesperson Majbaul Haque said this in a briefing on Thursday.
Majbauk Haque said that the new board of the bank was ordered to be formed on the recommendation of the capital market regulatory body, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. Syed Farhat Anwar is the chairman of the new board. Currently he is the Independent Director of Meghna Bank.
In addition, former executive director of Bangladesh Bank Sirajul Islam, former managing director of Southeast Bank Md. Kamal Hossain and Khalilur Rahman, Parveen Haque Sikder, Shafiqur Rahman, Moazzem Hossain. Three former directors have also been appointed to the new board.
