Illegal hoarders will not be exempted only by fines. Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar has warned to go to jail if not corrected. Sadhan Chandra Majumder said, ‘In order to bring the price of rice to a bearable level, the businessmen have to change their attitude towards more profit. Millers, wholesalers, retailers and corporates are all responsible for the rise in rice prices. Officials have been asked to visit the food grain license spot. Many have taken a license from the Union Parishad and stored goods worth billions of rupees. It can’t be.’

The Production, Storage, Transfer, Transport, Supply, Distribution and Marketing of Foodstuffs (Prevention of Harmful Acts) Act 2023 has been passed. The rule making process is in progress. If it is approved by the Cabinet, stricter action can be taken against illegal hoarders, said the Food Minister.

The food minister said that he will always strive to fulfill the trust that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has placed on him after being given the responsibility of the food ministry again.

In the exchange meeting, the Food Minister inquired about the development activities of various departments and gave necessary directions. During the anti-hoarding operation, he directed the director general of the food department to issue an order to cancel the leave of the employees of the food department and stay at work on weekends.

Superintendent of Police Mohammad Rashedul Haque, Civil Surgeon Abu Hena Raihanuzzaman Sarkar, Principal of Naogaon Government Medical College, officials of various departments at the district level, chairmen of Upazila Parishad, Upazila Executive Officers and media representatives were present in the program under the chairmanship of Naogaon Deputy Commissioner Md. Golam Mawla.
