‘Ganajagarane Film Festival’ is being organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from December 29 to January 5 with 17 domestic films. Khandkar Suman’s film ‘Santao’ will be screened today. The audience will enjoy it at 4 pm at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium of 63 districts of the country.

‘Santao’ was awarded the FIPRICE Best Film Award in the Bangladesh Panorama category at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival. The movie was released on January 27. Since last March, the film has been shown alternately in different districts of the country.

Ikramul Islam, assistant director of drama and film department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, said about the festival, ‘The film festival has been organized under the management of drama and film department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with the desire to reach the unstoppable progress of art through mass awakening. Films of artistic quality will reach not only Dhaka, but also the audience outside Dhaka through this arrangement.

Director Khandkar Suman said, ‘It is undoubtedly a matter of surprise that a film will be screened simultaneously on the big screen in sixty-three districts. International film festivals do not have so many screenings at the same time. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky Bhai have always been with healthy films, so many exhibitions at once have joined the fate of a publicly funded film.’

Ainun Putul, Fazlul Haque and others acted in the main roles of the movie ‘Santao’. Story, screenplay and dialogues are written by director Khandkar Suman himself.

Incidentally, the crowd-funded film ‘Santao’ was recently released on the world’s second largest OTT platform, Amazon Prime Video. It is seen only from America and England. It can be seen on ‘Bioscope Live’ apps from Bangladesh.
