Ferries and launches on the Lakshmipur-Bhola sea route have resumed after 10 hours of closure due to dense fog. At 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the ferry and launch started when the fog cleared a little.
Earlier ferry and launch services were stopped for 8 hours from 2 pm to 10 am due to dense fog. Due to this, the drivers of passenger and cargo trucks suffered greatly in severe winter.
Md. Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Majuchaudhurirhat Ferry Ghat. Kaushar said that the ferry movement has been disrupted due to heavy fog for the past few days. The ferry service was restored at 10 a.m. after being suspended since 2 a.m. last night. Apart from this, the ferry service is being disrupted due to the navigability crisis in the Meghna and the sinking of divers at 22 points.
Meanwhile, severe winter has increased in public life in Lakshmipur for the past few days. Along with that, the common people of the district have been overcome by the cold wind in Konkan. The minimum temperature in Lakshmipur was 10.2 degrees Celsius. Vehicles are moving with lights on due to dense fog.
Since the temperature is dropping every afternoon, people are not coming out of their houses unless it is very necessary in the cold Konkan. This is going on till noon. The working people cannot go to work due to lack of warm clothes. Low-income people of coastal areas are trying to beat the winter by burning straw.
