Female passenger detained with 76 thousand dollars in Benapole

A woman passenger from India was detained with 76 thousand dollars at the Benapole check post in Jessore. He was arrested by customs detectives around 11 am on Tuesday.

The name of the detained passport passenger is Nasreen Akhter. She is the daughter of Jamal Uddin of Satbaria village of Bheramara police station of Kushtia district.

Confirming the matter, Customs Intelligence Officer Kamal Hossain said that based on secret information, a team of Customs Intelligence took a position inside the Immigration Customs. The woman passenger was detained while crossing Benapole immigration. Later, after interrogation, 76 thousand cash dollars were seized from his bag. Its estimated value in Bangladeshi Taka is 85 lakhs. Legal proceedings are pending against the detained passenger.

Intelligence Revenue Officer Mozam Hossain said that passengers returning to India brought these dollars illegally without making any declaration. He was arrested along with the dollar on this charge.
