Expatriate Day celebration at Bangladesh Consulate in Dubai

Bangladesh Consulate General Dubai celebrated ‘National Expatriate Day 2023’ on the morning of December 30 with the slogan ‘The welfare and dignity of expatriates is our commitment, they are equal partners in building a smart Bangladesh’. On the occasion of the day, a discussion program was organized in the consulate conference room.

Expatriate Bangladeshi community, members of various political and social organizations and journalist representatives were present in the event.

At the beginning of the discussion, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, the messages sent by the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Affairs were read out on the occasion of the day. After that, a video prepared by the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment on the employment and welfare of expatriates was shown.

Consul General BM Jamal Hossain was the chief guest in the discussion. The senior vice president of Business Council Dubai, Ayub Ali Babul, Engineer Abu Hena Chowdhury, Mazharullah Miah, General Secretary of Bangladesh Press Club UAE Kamrul Hasan Johnny, Bulbul Ahmad Mukul and expatriate dignitaries participated in the discussion moderated by Labor Councilor Abdus Salam.

Speaking as the chief guest, Consul General BM Jamal Hossain said, ‘The announcement of celebration of Expatriate Day to honor expatriates is highly commendable. It is our commitment to protect the dignity of expatriates. The issue of participation of expatriates in the development of the country deserves to be discussed more seriously. It is important to identify the diaspora’s partnership.’

Highlighting the issue of equal evaluation of women and men workers outside the country, he further said that the life of women workers abroad is more challenging than that of men. However, they are contributing to the country’s economy by sending remittances through legitimate channels.
