The Election Commission has relieved Shashank Hira, the polling officer of East Kathalia Government Primary School Center of Jhalkathi in the 12th National Assembly Elections. He was acquitted for going outside the center during polling on Sunday and taking cash and food from people of independent candidates wearing eagle symbols.
He was relieved in a letter signed by Fatima Azreen Tanbi, Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Pirojpur-1 Constituency (Nazirpur).
In the letter, it is said that on the occasion of the 12th National Assembly Election-2024, Center-based Polling Officers have been appointed. In that context Shashank Hira, assistant teacher of Nautana Government Primary School, has been appointed polling officer at 119, 67 East Kathalia Government Primary School, East Kathalia Centre. But he went outside the polling station and took cash and food from the eagle symbol candidate’s people. On the basis of the complaint brought against him and as the complaint was proved, he was removed from the polling officer. The authorities concerned have been requested to take legal action against him.
