Police have arrested three people in the case of beating and killing an education officer in Natore’s Baraigram. They were arrested from their respective homes after raiding on Friday night.
The arrested persons are Osman Gani son of Sher Ali of Malipara village of Baraigram upazila, Abu Bakkar son of Fazlul Haque and Jewel Rana son of Abbas Ali of Upalshahr village. They were sent to jail through the court on Saturday.
Inspector Sirajul Islam, the investigating officer of the case, said, ‘Education officer Abdur Rauf filed a case as a plaintiff in the case of assault and death threats against him. After the filing of the case, the police started the operation to arrest the accused. The accused are absconding since the incident. Three of them have been arrested. However, soon the main accused in the case and others will be arrested and brought under the law.
In this regard, Baraigram Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Azam said, ‘Three people have been arrested after observing the CCTV footage of the incident. None of the arrested persons are named accused of Ejaha. But they have involvement with the incident.’
On Thursday afternoon, miscreants entered the office of Baraigram Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rauf and threatened to cut off his hand and physically bribed him. At that time, the local member of parliament, Dr. 30-35 youth including 3 nephews of Siddiqur Rahman Patwari. In this incident, he himself became the plaintiff and filed a case with the police station naming 30-35 others as unknown accused.
