Economic zone on 250 bigha land in Satkhira

A special economic zone is being built on 250 bigha land in Raichpur, Satkhira. Satkhira will advance economically. A revolution will be achieved especially in the agricultural and fisheries sectors produced in the district. Employment opportunities will also be created. Besides, the importance of Bhomra land port will increase manifold.

Although Satkhira is well known in agriculture and fisheries sector, it lags behind in the industrial sector. For the development of the district, the Prime Minister approved the establishment of an economic zone in the district on February 3. Initially 250 bigha of land was allotted in Rachaichpur.

Beza Chairman Yusuf Haroon said, “The Prime Minister has given orders to become an economic zone in Satkhira. I came to see. I liked the place. Hopefully, I can build the project in the next few months.’

Locals are happy with the news of establishment of economic zone. They hope that this will increase job opportunities. Quality of life will increase.

Dr. General Secretary of Satkhira District Fishery Association. Abul Kalam Babla said that agricultural products and fisheries can be processed in this economic zone. This region will play a major role in eliminating unemployment.

Deputy Commissioner Humayun Kabir expressed hope that the economic zone would be promising with a land and a sea port nearby. He said that permission has been received regarding the establishment of economic zone in Satkhira. There is 150 acres of land in Palashpole Mauza in Raichpur. Some more land may need to be acquired. We will give 150 acres of Khas land to Beja as soon as the gazette of Palashpol Mauza is published.

The administration believes that the development of the district will be accelerated if agricultural products including mangoes and shrimps can be processed.
