The Election Commission (EC) has allowed the transfer of 158 more Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs). A total of 205 UNOs were transferred with this.
EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath confirmed this information to reporters on Thursday afternoon.
Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the EC agreed to two separate proposals for the transfer of 158 UNOCs by the Ministry of Public Administration. The ministry sent the transfer list of 110 UNOKs on Wednesday and 48 on Thursday to the EC.
Earlier on December 4, the EC approved the transfer of 47 UNOCs in the first phase.
The Election Commission wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration last Thursday asking for the transfer of UNOs who have been at work for one year. It is said that the Election Commission has decided to transfer all the UNOs in a phased manner for the smooth conduct of the upcoming National Assembly elections. For this purpose, in the first phase, the transfer proposal of those UNOs who have completed more than one year of service at their current place of work should be sent to the Commission by December 5.
Besides UNOs, the EC has also sought the transfer of Officers in Charge (OCs) who have been on duty for 6 months.
