RAB-5 arrested a drug dealer with 135 kg of ganja from inside a covered van in a raid in Rajshahi. He was arrested in Fatepur Jaibangla Mor area under Manda police station of Naogaon district at around 3:30 p.m. last Monday.
The arrested accused is Abdul Shukur (28). He is the son of Liakat Ali of Bani village in Tungipara area of Gopalganj district.
RAB-5 captain Munim Ferdous gave this information in a press conference at the RAB-5 captain’s office on Wednesday morning.
RAB-5 captain Munim Ferdous said that based on secret information, RAB came to know that a consignment of ganja was coming from Comilla to Rajshahi in a covered van. On receiving the information, the RAB intelligence team was stationed in Amchattar of Rajshahi and started following the covered van. Later, the RAB team conducted a check post on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway at Fatepur Jaibangla Mor area under Manda police station in Naogaon district. When the covered van signaled the presence of RAB while operating the check post, 2 drug dealers tried to escape quickly and RAB arrested one.
Munim Ferdous also said that according to the information of the detained pig, 135 kg of ganja was recovered from inside the white plastic bag inside the truck. The detained persons and the absconding unidentified persons have been illegally collecting ganja for a long time and selling it in different places of Rajshahi and Naogaon districts. A case has been filed in Manda police station of Naogaon district in this incident.
