Nobel laureate Dr. Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader wanted to know whether Yunus is above the law or not. He said the court has punished him for his crime.
Quader made this comment in a press conference at the Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday.
Nobel laureate Dr. The Third Labor Court of Dhaka sentenced four people including Yunus to six months imprisonment and fined 30 thousand taka. After the announcement of the verdict in the terms of the appeal. The court granted bail to Yunus.
Dr. Kader said about the sentence of Yunus, ‘Dr. Is Yunus above the law? Has the government punished him? Criticism of the government is not appropriate as the court has sentenced for the crime.’
Obaidul Quader mentioned that we are firm and steadfast about the election program and said, ‘We are united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Awami League is determined to provide all assistance to the Election Commission in fulfilling the historical responsibility of the election.
Obaidul Quader said, ‘We are getting news that they may engage in armed activities at a more dangerous level by suddenly moving in the name of distributing leaflets. They can do a lot out of failure and frustration. Because, they have failed in the movement.’
Obaidul Quader also commented that it is a matter for those who are withdrawing from the election personally.
