Novak Djokovic played tennis with Steven Smith a few days ago. He also played cricket there, but batted better with a tennis bat. It didn’t take long for that video to go viral.

Djokovic, the owner of a record 24 Grand Slams, has expressed interest in playing with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli this time.

Djokovic appeared to play the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year. The top seed in tennis has already won the first round in the tournament. Kohli wished the Serbian star good luck for Australia Open in a video message.

The video was uploaded on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Sunday. There, Kohli spoke on many topics including the friendship between stars from two different worlds of sports.

Djokovic did not forget to respond to the best wishes of one of the greatest batsmen of all time. That’s why he chose Twitter. The 36-year-old tennis star mentioned Kohli by sharing BCCI’s post and wrote, ‘Thanks Kohli for the heartwarming message, I look forward to the day we play together.’

In the BCCI video, Kohli has highlighted the story of the beginning of his friendship with Djokovic. That’s funny too, ‘My acquaintance with Djokovic is very strange. I was looking at his profile on Instagram. Once I thought, let’s massage him. I thought to write “hello” to him. ‘

But what Kohli saw while messaging Djokovic, the Indian batsman was surprised, ‘Then I saw in my inbox, he has already sent me a message. I have never (before) checked my inbox. I was checking the message myself for the first time. I saw there, he himself sent me a message. Then I thought, whether the ID is real or fake, I need to check. I saw, this is his real ID. From then on our conversation started. We text each other occasionally. Congratulations to him for his outstanding achievements.’

Kohli spent the last ODI World Cup like a dream. Although India lost in the final, the highest run scorer of the tournament was the Indian batsman. He has scored a record 50th century in ODIs in this global tournament. Meanwhile, Djokovic congratulated him, this also comes out in Kohli’s video.

After that, Kohli said about the mutual respect between the two, ‘We admire and respect each other. It’s great to be exposed to athletes at the highest level of world sport. I have enough respect for him. I follow his passion for fitness myself.’

The friendship between the two has grown, but the two stars have not met yet. Kohli also expressed his desire to meet Djokovic, ‘If he ever comes to India, or if I go to where he is playing, I will definitely meet him. I will chat with him over a cup of coffee.’

Kohli also congratulated Djokovic for the ongoing Australian Open in the last part of the video. He also said that Australia is Kohli’s favorite place to play cricket. The Indian batsman hopes Djokovic will get plenty of support from the gallery there.

Earlier, Djokovic spoke to Sony Sports Network about his visit to India and his friendship with Kohli. The Serbian tennis star also said that they have never met, ‘I have been talking to Kohli through messages for several years. But we didn’t get a chance to meet directly. It’s special for me to get compliments from him. I am impressed with his achievements, his career and what he has done.’
