Even after six and a half years of supply, the supplier has not started digital x-ray machine in Bogra Mohammad Ali Hospital. The hospital authorities sent letters repeatedly but did not work. Patients are forced to go to private clinics and diagnostic centers for digital x-rays without getting services. It increases costs and suffering.

In August 2017, Bengal Scientific and Surgical Company supplied a modern digital X-ray machine to Govt Muhammad Ali Hospital, Bogra. But the machine fails to start.

Despite having modern machines, the hospital authorities are not able to provide the desired services to the patients.

Jahangir Alam, in-charge of radiology department of Bogra Muhammad Ali Hospital, said that the machine has been lying for about seven years. The engineer came and tried many times but could not start the machine. Due to this, patients have to go to other hospitals for X-rays.

In this, the patients have to pay 300 to 1000 taka for X-ray of 55 to 70 taka in private clinics and diagnostic centers.

A relative of a patient who came to the hospital said that if X-ray facilities were available here, services would have been available at a much lower cost.

The supplier later tried three more times to start the machine but could not. The hospital authorities said that several letters have been given to the health department and the supplier.

Those concerned have doubts about whether the modern machine lying in dust and sand will be operational.

Dr. Resident Medical Officer of Bogra Mohammad Ali Hospital. Mohammad Shafiqul Amin Kajal said, ‘It could not be fixed even after the technicians came many times. Now we have given up hope. This problem can be solved now only if new x-ray machine is introduced.’
