12 birds died due to poisoning of wheat in Damudya, Shariatpur. The incident took place in the crop field in Khanarpar area of Madhya Sidya village of Damudya upazila.
In this incident, the mobile court fined the owner of the land Shajahan Madbar 2000 taka at around 4:30 pm today.
It is known that various species of doves and shalik birds died as a result of the application of poison on the land from Friday morning to noon. At this time, some birds are seen hanging on the ground with a rope. Later, when the death of the bird was known, the farmer buried the bird in the ground.
In this regard, Damudya Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sujan Das Gupta said, ‘This fine is imposed as per Article 26 for violating Article 6 (1) (a) of Wildlife Conservation Act, 2012. A bond has been accepted to not do such a thing in the future.’
