A cyclist named Hashem Ali was killed after being hit by a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Natore. In this incident, the autorickshaw driver Ferdous Ahmed was arrested and handed over to the police.
The accident took place in the Dalsak area of Dighapatia Union of Sadar Upazila on Thursday morning.
Hasem Ali was the son of Nur Mohammad of Nepaldighi village of Sadar Upazila and Imam of Flushi Flush Jute Mill Mosque in Dal Road area. On the other hand, the arrested driver is Khalek Mia son of Sherkol area of Ferdous Ahmed Singra.
This was confirmed by ANM Masud, Officer-in-Charge of Natore’s Jhalmalia Highway Police Outpost.
Quoting the locals, the police officer said that Imam Hashem Ali left the house with a bicycle to offer Fajr prayers in the morning. On the way, he was hit by a CNG auto rickshaw in front of the Flushy Flush Jute Mill in Dalsak area. Locals saw the incident and detained the autorickshaw driver.
Later, the injured Hasem Ali was rescued and taken to Nato Modern Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
This police officer said that the legal system is under process in this incident.
