Former organizing secretary of Natore District Chhatra League, Shamim Hossain, is opposed to Kopal due to previous disputes. The incident took place in front of the Kachari field in Kandivita of the city around 10 o’clock on Tuesday.
The injured Shamim Hossain is the son of Faiz Uddin of Kandivita area. He was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital after first treatment at Natore Sadar Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Natore Police Station Mizanur Rahman confirmed this information.
Citing locals, the OC said that Shamim had a long-standing dispute with Mostarul Alam, the former president of the District Chhatra League and currently the president of the Truck and Tank Lorry Workers’ Union. During the campaigning for the national parliament elections, there was a fight between Shamim and Mostarul Alam supporters.
Eyewitnesses said that Shamim Hossain was sitting in front of the field at around 10 o’clock today. At that time, some terrorists attacked Shamim with sharp weapons and left him bleeding. Later the locals rescued him injured and admitted him to Natore Sadar Hospital. There he was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment with first aid.
