Belal Hossain, the fugitive accused in the rape and murder case of Natore Sadar police station, was arrested after 14 years from Dhaka’s Savar by the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 Natore camp. He was arrested last night from Kalma Bus Stand No. 1 area of Savar police station in Dhaka.
Arrested Belal Hossain son of deceased Jabbar Hossain of Ulipur Guchchagram area of Natore city. This information was given by RAB-5 Natore Camp Company Commander Senior Assistant Director Sanjay Kumar Sarkar through a press release today.
According to RAB, on January 11, 2010, the police recovered the body of an unidentified woman from Ambagan of Baliadanga village of Tebaria union of Natore Sadar Upazila. At that time, a purse bag, a photograph and a notebook were recovered from the spot. Later, the autopsy report revealed that the woman was strangled to death by wrapping a veil around her neck. Police arrested a person named Jotsna Begum from that area on suspicion of involvement in the incident. At that time Belal Hossain, husband of Jotsna ran away. In this incident, the police filed a murder case as the plaintiff. Later, after the police investigation, they filed a report accusing Jotsna Begum and her husband Belal Hossain. After that, the court after taking the evidence ordered Jotsna Begum and Belal Hossain to be imprisoned for life and fined one lakh taka.
Based on a tip-off, a special team of RAB with the help of RAB-3 arrested him from the bus stand area of Savar police station area of Dhaka. Belal Hossain, who was arrested at noon, was handed over to Nator Sadar police station.
