The appointment of contractual head teachers and principals of more than half a hundred schools and colleges has been cancelled. According to the Ministry of Education, no contractual appointment can be made in any institution from now on.

The existing MPO policy had provided for the contractual appointment of heads of schools and colleges. In many institutions, head teachers and principals are appointed on contractual basis even after their service ends. There are allegations of irregularities in this appointment.

There are numerous complaints in this regard in the Ministry of Education. As a result, teachers suffer. This time the ministry has completely canceled this contractual appointment. The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education says that from now on, new contractual teachers cannot be appointed. Also those who are appointed will also be cancelled.

Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Nehal Ahmed said that the teachers who were appointed on contractual basis before the approval, used to sit on the chair and later did not want to leave it. Due to this, the Ministry has completely canceled the contractual appointment of teachers on January 11.

Meanwhile, the teachers are happy with this decision. Teacher leaders say many teachers are not promoted despite their qualifications due to this contractual recruitment. Also, in most cases the teachers became hostages to the contractual heads.

Shahjahan Alam Saju, general secretary of the Freedom Teachers’ Council, said, ‘We are satisfied with this decision of the government. It is a good decision.’

Currently, there are 34,500 private schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions in the country.
