Jamalpur-2 (Islampur) Constituency Awami League nominated candidate and State Minister of Religion. The traveling court imposed a fine of Tk 500 for constructing an arch with the picture of Faridul Haque Khan Dulal.
A mobile court was conducted in Kandarchar Mandalpara area of Chargoalini Union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.
It is known that for the election campaign on behalf of Faridul Haque Khan Dulal, the candidate of the boat symbol, a huge arch of the boat symbol with a gate was constructed at the initiative of the local Awami League leaders and activists in the Kandarchar Mandalpara area next to Porarchar-Sazalerchar road. Banners with the words ‘Vote by Boat’ along with the picture of State Minister for Religion Faridul Haque Khan Dulal were pasted on that constructed pylon.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and the judge in the mobile court responsible for monitoring the election. Shahnur Rahman fined the builders of the pylon five hundred taka. The arch of the boat symbol built after that was demolished.
Assistant Returning Officer and Islampur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) said. Sirajul Islam said, “A fine of 500 taka has been collected in the mobile court for constructing a gate and a boat symbol for the purposes of campaigning in violation of the electoral code of conduct.”
Prior to this, on Thursday, the arch and gate of the boat symbol were broken at various places. The official also said that legal action is being taken to prevent construction of gates or arches on behalf of any candidate.
Md. Sirajul Islam also said that a new magistrate has been added to monitor the election process from today. Two full-time magistrates are monitoring the election work.
