Cold current is blowing, schools are closed in the district

In the second week of Magh, the whole country is shivering in Konkan winter. Mild cold current is blowing in 21 districts. Schools in these districts are closed when the temperature drops below 10 degrees. People’s life is very stagnant in thick fog and cold air.

On Monday, the minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in Naogaon and Dinajpur. The lowest temperature of the season in the capital today.

All primary and secondary schools are closed in the affected districts. As the temperature has dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in various districts of the country including Jessore, Pabna, Kurigram, Joypurhat, all secondary and primary educational institutions have been declared closed tomorrow Tuesday.

However, due to lack of prior notice, many have come back to school amid the cold in Konkan. Parents are urged to inform the school closure in advance to reduce the suffering of students.

The primary and secondary level educational institutions of the districts where the temperature has dropped recently are being ordered to be closed. The government has decided that primary and secondary level educational institutions will be closed in areas where the temperature will drop below 10 degrees.

In the light of the government’s decision, the closure of all primary and secondary level educational institutions in several districts including northern district Kurigram, Lalmonirhat came on Monday.

Meanwhile, people’s life has been disrupted due to severe winter. Dense fog will remain till noon in many areas along with frosty air. No one leaves the house without need. Daily wage earners and low income people are suffering due to this.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.8 degree Celsius in Saidpur of Nilphamari on Monday. The incidence of winter-related diseases has increased in the district due to severe winter.

All the districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions in the north of the country are affected by the cold wave, said the Meteorological Office. Besides Jessore, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Madaripur and Tangail, mild cold current is also flowing.
