Cocktail panic prevails in the voting field in Chapainawabganj. Cocktail explosions are happening regularly in different areas of Chapainawabganj-1 and Chapainawabganj-3 constituencies. There is extreme fear in the public mind about this. Locals say the cocktail panic may reduce voter turnout in several areas.
Recently, after visiting various areas, it was found that cocktail explosions are a daily occurrence in Chapainawabganj-1 constituencies including Lavanga-Sunderpur, Nayalavhanga, Mardna, Chhatrajitpur and other areas. The cocktail explosion started in the evening. Go till late night. Locals claim that cocktail explosions are not aimed at anyone, but aimlessly. They said that cocktail explosions are being made to scare the opponent.
Sadekul Islam of Lavanga-Sunderpur said that cocktail explosions happen every night. They are spending their days in fear of their relatives. The fear of what will happen is always haunting.
Another resident of the same area named Nazrul Islam said, ‘Cocktail explosions have increased in this area due to the vote. There is a doubt whether they will go to the polling station or not due to the fear that exists among the people.
Obaidur Rahman of Mardna area said that tension has arisen in the area due to the vote. Because of this, miscreants are stocking cocktails in the area. Although the RAB-Police recovered little, they are still being stored in several shelters after making cocktails.
RAB recently recovered 41 cockatiels from Lavanga-Sundarpur area. In this regard, the captain of RAB-5, Rajshahi, Lt. Colonel Munim Ferdous said that the cocktails were recovered by raiding on the basis of secret information. They also believe that the cocktails were used in election violence. He said that more cocktail rescue operations will continue.
Meanwhile, after the announcement of the schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections, cocktail explosions occurred at several important places in Chapainawabganj. Meanwhile, explosions took place in the tennis ground next to the District Election Office, Chief Judicial Magistrate court premises, Deputy Commissioner’s bus building.
Cocktail explosions took place in front of the political office of Awami League candidate Abdul Odud in Chapaibnabganj-3 constituency, at the house of BNM candidate Abdul Matin, at Zilla Parishad Chairman Rahul Amin’s house and in front of Chapainawabganj Municipal Mayor Mokhlesur Rahman’s house.
However, members of law enforcement and returning officers say that they have made all kinds of preparations to ensure smooth voting. He also urged the general voters not to panic.
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan said, we are not in any kind of fear. Law enforcement forces are working here. Detectives are working. We will have a fair election with the joint efforts of all. Nothing will happen in this district to obstruct the election in any way.
