Coal ship sinks in Bhairav ​​river

A coal-laden vessel named MV Purbachal has sunk in Bhairava river at Abhaynagar in Jessore. The ship sank at Bhatpara Kheyaghat in Nader on Tuesday afternoon.

The ship reached Nawapara port the next evening but did not receive the serial. As a result, it was removed and anchored near Bhatpara Kheyaghat. Today around 11 o’clock the ship started sinking. Realizing this, we tried to release the coal.

Master Md. Enayet also said that the ship’s bottom may have leaked.

Masood Parvez, deputy director of Nawapara seaport, said that the lighter ship had coal imported by JHM Group. It was anchored in the river as no cereal was available at the wharf. We got word that it started sinking around 11:30 pm. The matter has been reported to the concerned authorities.

Masud Parvez also said that the efforts to rescue the ship by unloading the ship’s coal are continuing. Shipping is normal. However, the cause of the accident is under further investigation.
