Clash of juvenile gang groups in Comilla: 16 arrested, weapons and cocktails recovered

The local police administration is shaken by the armed practice of two youth gang groups named ‘Eagle Group’ and ‘Ratan Group’ in Comilla. In the meantime, 16 people directly involved in the clash have been arrested, 10 sharp weapons and 9 cocktails have been recovered.

District Police Superintendent Abdul Mannan gave this information in a press conference at Comilla Police Superintendent’s office on Saturday morning.

Superintendent of Police said, ‘There are 15 to 20 youth gang groups in Comilla district. A gang is made up of 7 to 20 members. These gangs try to expand by dominating the game or the area. Last Friday afternoon, the open arms exercise of two gangs named Eagle and Ratan at the circuit house intersection of Comilla created panic in the public mind.

Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain said that the youth gang members are usually 14 to 20 years old. Gangs started from chats, avoiding the eyes of the parents by evading school and college. Domestically made sharp weapons and cocktails are seen in their hands in the exercise of dominance.

On Friday around 4:30 pm, an armed exercise and chase between two juvenile gangs took place in front of Comilla’s Circuit House. Eyewitnesses said that during the chase, the youth gang members had sharp weapons in their hands.

In the footage of a local building’s CCTV camera, two teenage gangs got involved in a public chase at Circuit House intersection in Comilla at 4:30 pm on Friday. At least a hundred teenagers in two groups brandished weapons and threw brickbats. In the CCTV footage, Ram Da is seen in the hands of several people.

According to the police, a total of 4 cases have been registered in this incident. Apart from this, the members of the law and order forces are also working to find out who are the facilitators of the youth gang group.
