Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Office of the ruling Communist Party of China, has arrived in Dhaka. Sun Haiyan landed at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a special flight around 9:30 on Tuesday night.
He came to Dhaka from Maldives. The Chinese Vice Minister will have a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today on Wednesday during a three-day visit. During this time, he will pay tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi number 32.
Apart from this, the Chinese Vice Minister will meet with Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader during his visit to Dhaka. Speaker of the National Parliament side by side. Shirin will also pay a courtesy call on Sharmin Chowdhury. Sun will attend some formalities at the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka.
Diplomatic people say that China and Russia were in the opposite position of the United States regarding the election of the 12th National Parliament of Bangladesh. The two countries praised the election of Bangladesh and congratulated and supported the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League for re-establishing the government. It also expressed interest in working with the new government.
Elections were held in Bangladesh on January 7. Sheikh Hasina formed the government on January 11 for the fourth and fifth consecutive terms after getting the majority of seats in the elections. This is the first visit to Bangladesh by a Chinese and foreign representative after Bangabandhu formed the new government.
