‘Chattala Express’ train derailed at Sitakunda

A passenger compartment of the Chattla Express train derailed at Sitakunda in Chittagong. The incident took place at Shuklal Hat Pragati Industry area at 7:10 am on Wednesday. However, no casualties were reported.

After this incident, the Dhaka-bound line was closed for an hour. After that, the rescue team went to rescue the train at around 9:30 on Wednesday and it left for Dhaka again.

Amjad Hossain, in-charge of the Railway Police’s Sitakunda outpost, said that the last carriage of the train that left Chittagong derailed on Wednesday morning.

Amjad Hossain said that the accident is believed to have occurred due to the breakdown of two sections of the railway line. But the whole matter is being looked into.
