Case related to the attack on victory march in Netrakona, arrest 1

A case has been filed against 18 people in connection with the attack by boat supporters on the victory march of an independent candidate in Atpara of Netrakona-1 (Kendua-Atpara) seat. Police have arrested one accused.

Sohag Hasan, the brother of the deceased, filed the case as the plaintiff on Wednesday night. Luneshwar Union Awami League general secretary Kamruzzaman, Jubo League member Junayed, Sakhawat Hossain Bari and 10 other unknown people have been accused in this.

Arrested Sakhawat Hossain Bari member of Luneshwar Union Jubo League. The deceased Nurul Amin is a supporter of independent candidate Iftikhar Uddin and son of Kazim Uddin of Deogaon village of Luneshwar union of Atpara upazila.

Regarding the case, Atpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tawhidur Rahman said, ‘After voting on the day of the 12th National Assembly election, at night after the victory of Iftikhar Uddin Talukder, an independent candidate of the truck symbol, his supporters held a victory procession in Deogaon Bazar. At least 12 people including Nurul Amin were injured when supporters of the boat attacked the procession. Nurul Amin died the next day under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

OC Tawhidur Rahman also said that the arrested Bari has been sent to Netrakona Judicial Court. Operations are underway to arrest other accused in the case.
