Sirajganj Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College student Arafat Amin Tamal in the incident of shooting a third year student. A case of attempted murder has been filed against Raihan Sharif at Sirajganj Sadar Police Station. The Ministry of Health has formed a three-member investigation committee in this incident. On Monday (March 4) at around 12:30 p.m., the student’s father said. Abdullah Al Amin became the plaintiff and filed a case at Sadar police station.

Earlier, on Monday evening, the accused teacher Dr. Raihan Sharif was arrested and taken to the police station from the medical college.

The plaintiff mentioned in the case, ‘My son Arafat Amin Tamal (22) was enrolled in Shahid M Mansoor Ali Medical College, Sirajganj in the academic year 2021-2022 and was currently studying in the third year. Dr. on the four floors of the academic building of the college. Today he was being tested in the room of Samoun Noor. At that time, my son’s friend Aktaruzzaman called around 4 pm and told me that Tamal was admitted to the hospital and asked me to go to Sirajganj quickly. I came to Sirajganj and saw my son in critical condition in the surgery department of Sirajganj Medical College Hospital. When asked about this, my son’s classmates said that the lecturer of the accused community medicine department always misbehaved with the students. He always used to bring weapons in his bag and put them on the table in the class to give lectures. He intimidated and threatened to shoot the students dead if they asked them not to come to class with firearms. During the examination today, around 3 pm, the accused suddenly got excited and scolded the students. At one point, he took out a pistol from his bag and shot to kill my son, hitting him in the upper thigh of the right leg and seriously injuring him.’

The case further states that when the classmates tried to take Tamal to the emergency department for treatment, the accused raised his weapon and threatened to shoot everyone. Immediately during the examination Tamal’s friends called the National Emergency Service 999. Sirajganj Thana Police, DB went to the spot and took the accused to the police station with weapons.

Sirajganj Sadar Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Sirajul Islam said that the victim student’s father filed a case against the teacher as a plaintiff. The accused will be shown arrested in that case. The OC also said that the firearm recovered from him was illegal. Another case will be filed against the teacher under Arms Act.

It should be noted that Arafat Amin Tamal, a student of Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College in Sirajganj, was shot by the college teacher Dr. on Monday (March 4) afternoon. Raihan Sharif. In this incident, the students protested to demand justice for the accused teacher. Later in the evening, the police arrested him and took him to the police station. A pistol was recovered from him. Accused Dr. Rayhan is a teacher in the community medicine department of Sharif College.

The Ministry of Health has already formed a three-member investigation committee in this incident. Dr. Additional Director General (Administration) of the Department of Health in the committee. Bayazid Khurshid Riaz has been summoned. The inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within the next three working days.
