6 people were killed and 8 injured in a fire at a candle factory in India. The fire broke out in the Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune in the state of Maharashtra on Friday, according to the Indian media NDTV.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said that fire service personnel were sent to the factory located in Talawad as soon as the fire was reported around 2.30 pm yesterday. Fire service personnel have already extinguished the fire.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh also said that the factory is known to manufacture birthday candles (sparkling candles). Although the fire has been extinguished, the cause of the fire is still unknown. The injured were rescued and admitted to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Hospitals.
Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, due to the fire, there was a huge amount of damage in the factory. It is being investigated whether the factory had proper fire fighting system or not.
