A three-way collision between a bus-pickup and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw took place at Titpalla bus stand in Jamalpur Sadar. Two were killed and six were injured.
The incident took place at Titpallat area of Jamalpur-Tangail highway today at around 6 am.
The deceased are Anwar Hossain son of deceased Salim Uddin of Dhanbari Upazila of Tangail and Shamsul Haque son of Abdus Sobahan of Chhontia area of Jamalpur Sadar. Both the deceased are vegetable traders.
Meanwhile, the injured have been given first aid at Jamalpur General Hospital. The driver of the pickup van has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Mohammad Kamal Hossain, in-charge of Narayanpur Investigation Center, said that a pickup van collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound Shadnan Enterprise bus at Titpalla on Jamalpur-Tangail highway at around 6 am today. At this time, the pick-up van collided with a CNG-powered autorickshaw. Two died on the spot. Six people were injured.
Mohammad Kamal Hossain also said that the bus driver and his assistant ran away immediately after the incident, but the bus was impounded. The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital. The process of bringing the bus driver and assistant under the law is underway. Apart from this, the body has been sent to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
