Bus-CNG collision in Bakshiganj, 1 killed

A youth named Monir Mia (30) was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and CNG in Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj. The accident took place at the drum bridge area of ​​Bakshiganj-Raumari highway at around 10 am on Wednesday. Another person was injured in this incident.

The deceased Monir Mia is the son of Tacher Uddin of Kalachar village of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district. It is said that he used to work as a daily labourer.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakshiganj Highway Police Station. Obaidul Haque said that around 9:30 in the morning, Monir Mia and his companions boarded the CNG from Bakshiganj and headed towards Roumari. When the CNGT reached the Drum Bridge area, there was a head-on collision with a bus named Nabil Paribahan from the opposite direction. CNG passenger Monir Mia (30) and his companion Mahbub Ali (26) were seriously injured in the collision.

Md. Obaidul Haque also said that the locals rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared Monir Miah dead and referred the injured Mahbub to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. But the Nabeel transport quickly left the scene.

OC Obaidul Haque said legal action will be taken if the victim’s family files a complaint in this incident.

Day laborer Monir Mia and his companions were returning home after work in the capital Dhaka.
