‘Books worth 60 million rupees have been sold at Ekushey Book Fair’

Books worth Tk 60 crore have been sold till the last day on Saturday at this year’s Amar Ekushe Book Fair organized in the capital. This information was given by the organizing organization Bangla Academy.

This information was announced at the closing ceremony of Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2024. Bangla Academy Director General (DG) Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda said that this year’s book fair has been organized successfully.

In previous years, the book fair was held for 28 days, but this year the fair was held in 31 days due to the extension of two days. Bangla Academy Deputy Director Saheed Montaj said that a total of 60 crores of books were sold at the Ekushey Book Fair.

Today is the last day of Amar Ekush Book Fair 2024. In the closing ceremony, Bangla Academy DG Muhammad Nurul Huda said, ‘3 thousand 751 books have been published this year. A more successful fair will be organized next year.’

Kathaprakash received the Chittaranjan Saha Award for publishing the highest number of quality books at the Amar Ekushe Book Mela 2024. Also, Prathama, Heritage and Journeyman received Munir Chowdhury Memorial Award. Mayurpankhi Prakashan won the award for publishing the best children’s book.

On the other hand, State Minister for Culture Nahid Izahar Khan has promised that an effort will be made to organize book fairs at Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan next year as well.
