The Coast Guard has recovered the body of the missing woman in the launch accident of “MV Sundarban-16” in the Meghna river in Chandpur. Lieutenant Colonel Mashad Uddin Nahian of Coast Guard Chandpur region confirmed the matter on Monday afternoon.
The rescued woman’s name is Reena Begum (32). He was a resident of Pirojpur district.
According to the Coast Guard, the body of Reena Begum was recovered from Airtelchar area of Gazipur Union of Haimchar on Meghna River on Monday morning. His body will be handed over to his family after legal proceedings.
On the night of January 5, the Barisal-bound “MV Sundarban-16” launch from Dhaka got stuck in the Meghna river due to the impact of the cargo. At that time this woman disappeared. More than five hundred passengers of that launch were detained at Amirabad Char in Matlab North. Later “MV Sundarban-14” and “MV Sundarban-15” launches went to the spot and rescued the passengers to Barisal.
